Marilyn Grover

Marilyn Eileen Grover, age 83, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 10:35 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2020 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Illinois. 

She was born August 23, 1936 in Astoria, Illinois the daughter of Louis and Helen Grafton Thomas.  She married John Allen Grover on December 1, 1956 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and he preceded her in death on February 14, 1991. 

Mrs. Grover was a homemaker.  She attended Rushville schools and graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1954.  

Marilyn was a member of the Mt. Sterling Church of the Nazarene.  She always enjoyed playing bingo, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. 

Survivors include 5 children LaMont “Monty” Grover (Cheryl) of Quincy, Illinois, Tom Grover (Beth) of Rushville, Illinois, Greg Grover (Lisa) of Stonington, Illinois, Penny Smith of Mt. Sterling, Illinois and Neil Grover of Mt. Sterling, Illinois.  2 brothers Gary Thomas of Rushville, Illinois and Ronald Thomas (Jan) of Savannah, Georgia.  11 grandchildren Kasey Grover (Joe), Tyler Grover, Caleb Grover, Schuyler Smith (Devon), Shannon Williams (Blake), Jessica Smith, Ciara Morris (Jason), Nathan Banta (Randee), Ashton Blentlinger, Kailey Grover and Trevor Grover.  6 great grandchildren Sawyer, Greyson, Raelyn, Daniel, Coltyn and Hunter also survive along with several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 daughters Randi Grover, Jodi Banta and Kathy Blentlinger and 1 grandson Garrett Grover.  

We know that Marilyn deserves a beautiful tribute and understand that under normal circumstances many friends would love to attend.  But sadly due to the current health situation and under the direction of the local health department, the services are to be conducted with only immediate family members in attendance. 

Friends are encouraged to watch Marilyn’s services streaming live at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 on the funeral home website at hendrickerfuneralhome.com.  

We also encourage the community to leave a condolence or remembrance on the website for the family.  

There will be no visitation.
