Martha Pindell

Martha Jane Pindell, age 83, a resident of Sunset Home in Quincy, Illinois and formerly of Mt. Sterling passed away at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the nursing home. 

She was born December 13, 1936 in Monmouth, Illinois the daughter of Donald S. and Rachel Priscilla Tipton Cannell.  

Martha worked at Dot Foods in Mt. Sterling for several years and had also been a school bus driver for Brown County Community Unit School District # 1 for 16 years.  

She attended Taluca Grade School and Garfield School in Monmouth and graduated from Dallas City High School. She also attended John Wood Community College in Quincy.  

Martha was a devoted member of the Mt.Sterling First United Methodist Church having served the church in numerous capacities.  She always enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing and music.  

Survivors include 3 children Dale Pindell (Denise) and Lora Vogler (Kenneth) all of Rushville, Illinois and Priscilla McElroy (Kelly) of Quincy, Illinois.  4 grandchildren Chris Vogler (Andrea) of Rushville, Illinois, Heather Putnam (Larry) of Jacksonville, Florida and Ryan and Kayla McElroy both of Quincy, Illinois.  5 great grandchild Josey, Katelyn, Devin, Jack and Max also survive along with several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Raymond and Donald T. Cannell and 1 sister Mary Faye Thompson.  

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Pastor Charla Meyers officiating. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth, Illinois.  

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home. 

Memorials are suggested to the Mt.Sterling First United Methodist Church or Sunset Home.
