Neil William Winn, age 78, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Autumn Meadows of Cahokia, Illinois.
He was born December 2, 1941 in Twin Falls, Idaho the son of Neil Perce and Mary Sue Rhodes Winn. He married Rama Kaye Camerer on September 1, 1969 in East Ely, Nevada and she survives.
Mr. Winn worked as an addiction counselor in both Brown and Pike County for several years. Neil received an associates degree in computer programming and bookkeeping from Lewis and Clark College in Godfrey, Illinois.
Mr. Winn served his country as a Green Beret in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pittsfield, Illinois. Neil always enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and loved going to the gun range to practice shooting.
Survivors include his wife Rama Kaye Winn of Versailles, Illinois 3 children Teresa Lawson of Utah, Joseph Winn of Wentzville, Missouri and Maegan Woodridge (Steve) of Hazelwood, Missouri. 1 sister Valerie Cochran of Nevada. 8 grandchildren including Aaron Joseph Winn, Adalyn Winn, Alyson Winn, Landon Winn and Janie Kaye Woodridge. 3 great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister Joyce Kaye Winn.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2020 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Branch President Gentz Franz officiating. Friends are also able to watch Neil’s services streaming live on the funeral home website at hendrickerfuneralhome.com.
Burial will follow in the Versailles West Side Cemetery. A military service will be conducted at the graveside by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Social distancing guidelines will be observed and there will be a limit of 50 visitors at any one time. With the current health concerns, non-physical expressions of condolence are suggested. Please consider refraining from hugs and handshakes, but know that your presence is greatly appreciated.
