Phillip Gordon “Phil” Reische, age 79, of Mt.Sterling, Illinois passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
He was born January 22, 1941 in Brown County, Illinois the son of Roland Oliver and Mildred Gertrude Long Reische. He married Marguerite “Margo” DeHaven on September 2, 2007 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and she survives.
Mr. Reische started working for the City of Mt. Sterling Street Department in 1972 and retired in September of 2006 after 34 years of service.
He attended Timewell schools and graduated from Brown County High School.
Mr. Reische attended The Crossing Church in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Phil always enjoyed mowing his yard and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Marguerite “Margo” Reische of Mt. Sterling. 7 children Heath Reische of Colchester, Illinois, Heather Reische (Rick Jones) of Mt. Sterling, Illinois, Bettie Sue Jones (Bill) of Huntsville, Illinois, Rob Banta (Holly) of Tuscola, Illinois, Petrina Winkleman (Leland) of Peoria, Illinois, Jared Reische and wife of Texas and Elijah Neese (Stephanie) of Quincy, Illinois. 2 brothers Wendell Reische (Darlene) of Versailles, Illinois and Lynn Reische of Timewell, Illinois. 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother James Robert Reische, 1 sister Laura Belle Tice and 1 sister-in-law Gala Reische.
We know that Phil deserves a beautiful tribute and understand that under normal circumstances many friends would love to attend. But sadly due to the current health situation and under the direction of the local health department, the services are to be conducted with only immediate family members in attendance.

Burial will follow in the Hersman Cemetery.
We also encourage the community to leave a condolence or remembrance on the website for the family.
There will be no visitation.
