Ramona R. “Mona” Lehne, age 86, a resident of Heritage Health in Beardstown, Illinois and formerly of Springfield, Illinois passed away at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the nursing home.
Ramona was born October 31, 1936 in rural Brown County, Illinois the daughter of Walter C. and Ruth P. Lewis Lehne.
She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Mt. Sterling with the class of 1955 and then attended Springfield Junior College from 1956 - 1957. Ramona continued her education at Illinois State University in Bloomington, Illinois from 1963 - 1967, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in education.
Ramona served as a teacher for over 30 years, having first taught at St. Mary’s Academy in Mt. Sterling before moving to Springfield, Illinois, where she taught 3rd grade at Ridgely Elementary School until her retirement.
Survivors include her brother Louis “Ed” Lehne (Lori) of Mt. Sterling. Nieces, Susan Buckley (Max) of Mt. Sterling, Jeanie Muhs (Robert) of Calico Rock, Arkansas and Amber McClenning of Rushville, Illinois. Nephews Eddie Lenover (Nancy) of Versailles, Illinois, David Lehne of Monroe, Louisiana and Christopher McClenning of Virginia, Illinois. Several great nieces and great nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Marilyn Esela and Virginia “Ginger” Hatten and 2 nephews Ronald Lenover and Gary Lehne as well as her beloved dog “Peppy”.
Ramona enjoyed going to yard sales, playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends.
Cremation will be accorded and a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery with Deacon Paul Koch officiating.
There will be no visitation.
