Richard Bradbury Obituary

 

Richard Marden Bradbury, age 79, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois and formerly of Versailles, passed away at 6:12 a.m. Sunday, March 24, 2019 at his residence.

He was born June 18, 1939 in Versailles, Illinois the son of Roy Marden and Garnet Eileen Pritchet Bradbury. 

Mr. Bradbury worked as plumber and pipe fitter through the local union # 25 in Rock Island, Illinois for 35 years. 

He graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1958. 

Mr. Bradbury served his country in the United States Navy from June of 1958 until May of 1962.

Survivors include 3 children Greg Bradbury, Shane Bradbury and Mary Lynn Bradbury. 1 brother Gale Bradbury (Lulu) of Versailles, Illinois. 1 sister Rita Christner (Sonny) of Quincy, Illinois. 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild also survive along with several nieces, nephews and his longtime friend and companion Ellen Jones of Mt. Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers William “Bill” Bradbury, Ronald Bradbury and Benny Bradbury.

Graveside Military Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28th, 2019 in the Versailles West Side Cemetery conducted by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Detail and the Mt. Sterling American Legion post # 374.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
