Ronald Sorrells, Jr.

Ronald Melvin Sorrells, Jr., age 73, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 4:09 p.m. Thursday, August, 6, 2020 at Barry Community Care Center in Barry, Illinois. 

He was born March 1, 1947 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Ronald Melvin, Sr. and Vera Louise Brown Sorrells.  

Mr. Sorrells was a research biologist for the Dow Chemical Company in Indianapolis, Indiana for 22 years, retiring in 1995. 

He received his masters degree in Biology from Butler University in Indianapolis.  

Ron always enjoyed golfing and traveling the backroads of Brown County. 

Survivors include 2 children Stephanie Sorrells of Jacksonville, Illinois and Joel Sorrells of St. George, Utah.  2 grandchildren.  1 aunt Lois Urven of Bartlett, Illinois also survives along with several cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Cremation will be accorded and there will be no services. 

Private burial of the cremated remains will be in the Hersman Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Hersman Cemetery and may be left or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
