Ruth Ann “Ruthie” Burnett, age 71, of Mt.Sterling, Illinois passed away on Monday morning, October 9, 2023.
She was born October 11, 1951 in Beardstown, Illinois the daughter of Charles Glenn and Jessie Pauline Martin Barclift. She married Michael Wayne Burnett on September 14, 1968 in Palmyra, Missouri and he preceded her in death on September 26, 2017.
Mrs. Burnett was a homemaker and also worked as a hairdresser and dental assistant for several years.
Ruthie graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1969 and then graduated from Flamingo Beauty School in Jacksonville, Illinois.
She was a member of the Versailles Christian Church and truly loved her family with all her heart.
Survivors include 4 children Shelly Lerch (Perry) of Jenison, Michigan, Mindy Engel of Augusta, Illinois, Matt Burnett (Sarah) and Luke Burnett (Maggie) all of Mt. Sterling, Illinois. 15 grandchildren Tiffany Engel (Chris Akers), Skylar O’Neal (Gus), Brandee Chockley (Chris), Mikie Lambert (Eric), Johnnie Creasy (Zach), Rachel Sparks (Nicholas), Holton Burnett, Samuel Lerch, Rubie Burnett, Lily Kerker, Kya Burnett, Roran Burnett, Brooklyn Burnett, Trayce Burnett and Rynn Burnett. 12 great grandchildren Aiden, Carter, Lilah, Ryder, Jason, Jaxxynn, Dean, Hank, Ruthie, Lozelle, Paisley and Tucker Wayne. 2 brothers Glenn Barclift of Jacksonville, Florida and Kenneth Ray Barclift of Mt. Sterling, Illinois. 1 sister Barbara L. DeWitt of Edwardsville, Illinois. Lifelong friend Merle Sieben also survives along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 grandsons Lance and Levi Burnett-Claassen and Gabriel Burnett and lifelong friend Martha Sieben.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Versailles Christian Church with Pastor Nathan Worstell and Pastor Tad Sorrells officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ripley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
Memorials are suggested to the Ripley Cemetery.
