Scott Winfield Turner, age 68, of rural Clayton, Illinois passed away at 6:45 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2019 at his residence.
He was born August 29, 1950 in Lincoln, Illinois the son of Robert Lee and Edna Emma Stiles Turner. He married Ida Griffith on March 22, 1969 in Pike County, Missouri and she survives.
Scott worked as a mechanic for most of life having worked for Magruder Construction in Eolia, Missouri most recently.
He attended Paynesville and Clopton, Missouri schools and was of the Baptist faith.
Scott always enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding 4 wheelers, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Ida Turner of Clayton, Illinois. 3 children Daniel Winfield Turner (Leticia) of Virginia, Illinois, Robert Warren Turner (Nancy) of Clayton, Illinois and Christie Marie Rolf (Jim) of Clayton, Illinois. 2 grandchildren Vera Marie Rolf and Madison Lyn Turner. 5 step grandchildren Enrique, Lizbeth and Delaney Rangel and Emily and Molly Schroeder. 5 brothers Robert, Tom, Lloyd, Fred and John Turner. 5 sisters Norma Blair, Jane Fischer, Virginia Sotello, Leona Ryland and Priscilla Klingler also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2019 in the Knight Cemetery in Brown County with Rev. Aaron Foster officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Mt. Sterling.
