Thomas Holder

Thomas Daniel Holder, age 71, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023 at his residence. 

He was born June 1, 1951 in Jersey County, Illinois the son of Hosie Jerome Holder, Sr. and Frances Elizabeth Knous Holder.  He married Sandra Kay Vanskike on November 12, 1975 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and she survives. 

Mr. Holder worked for National Starch and Chemical Company in Meredosia, Illinois for 32 years, retiring in 2001. 

He attended Meredosia Chambersburg Schools and was of the Christian faith.  

Tom enjoyed woodworking and also loved quilting with his wife. 

Survives include his wife, Sandra Kay Holder of Versailles.  4 children Tammy Lynn Large (Curtis) of Beardstown, Patricia Kay Forster of Pittsfield, Jessica Dawn Collins (companion, Neal Long) of Mt. Sterling and Sandra Danielle Harmon (Richard) of Mt. Sterling.  1 brother Paul Laverne Holder (Kathy) of Godfrey.  11 grandchildren  McKinzie, McKaylia, Brandon, Madeline, Craig, Austin, Nicole, Wil, Hunter, Maranda and Dylanger.  2 step grandchildren Christopher and Cory also survive along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Scott Fields, 1 great granddaughter Kayden Howell, 5 brothers Mitchell, Hosie, Jr., Bobby, Everett Dee and Claude Holder and 3 sisters Agnes Loness, Annetta McClendon and Margie Esther Elizabeth Irwin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Steve Surratt officiating.  Those unable to attend are invited to watch Tom’s service live on his obituary page of the funeral home website, hendrickerfuneralhome.com. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. 

Following the funeral service cremation will be accorded and burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date in the Hersman Cemetery. 

Memorials are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or the Hersman Cemetery Association.
