Vada Price

Vada June Price, age 85, a resident of Sunset Home in Quincy, Illinois and formerly of Mt. Sterling passed away at 6:50 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the nursing home. 

She was born July 3, 1935 in Brown County, Illinois the daughter of Oren and Essie Moore Dobey.  She married Lawrence Alonzo “Joe” Price on August 1, 1968 in Caledonia, Minnesota and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2010.  

Mrs. Price was a homemaker and had also worked at the Brown County Courthouse and the  Democrat Message both in Mt. Sterling and earlier in life she worked at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois.  She and her husband Joe also worked at Twin Hollows Outfitters in Mt. Sterling.   Vada attended Buckhorn School in Brown County and graduated from Brown County High School.  She then attended John Wood Community College where she received her CNA Certificate. 

Mrs. Price was of the Baptist faith.  Vada always liked being outdoors, whether that was camping, fishing, mowing her yard, bird watching, feeding hummingbirds, gardening or going to a yard sale.  She also enjoyed solving puzzles and word find games, watching Family Feud and the cooking channel, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.   

Survivors include 2 children Brenda Rush of Beardstown, Illinois and Linda Scott of Quincy, Illinois.  2 step children Cheri Roberts (Tom) of Jacksonville, Illinois and Vicki Morris (J.A.) of Springfield, Illinois.  1 brother Richard Dobey (Methyl) of Riverside, California.  3 grandchildren Garrett, Abbey and Alexis also survive along with several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother Emmett Dobey.  

Per her request all services will be private.  Private burial will be in the Hersman Cemetery. 

Memorials are suggested to Brown County Against Cancer and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
