William Richard “Bill” Esela, age 86, a resident of Sunset Home in Quincy, Illinois and formerly of Mt.Sterling, Illinois passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the nursing home.
He was born November 17, 1934 in Springfield, Illinois the son of Jacob and Mary Penny Esela. He married Marilyn Lehne on December 2, 1962 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and she preceded him in death on January 17, 2021.
Mr. Esela was a farmer and had also worked for the Brown County Housing Authority for several years. Bill was also known as an excellent carpenter.
He attended Springfield, Illinois schools.
Mr. Esela was a veteran of the Korean War having served his country in the United States Army.
Bill was of the Catholic faith and always enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers George and Charles Esela.
Private graveside services will be held in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, Illinois 62353.
