Carlene Marrisco Dixon, age 80, of rural Mt. Sterling passed away at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.
She was born September 6, 1936 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Carl and Veda Norene Hannant Husted. She married Harold Eugene “Gene” Dixon on June 26, 1955 at the Presbyterian Church of Christ in Mt. Sterling and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2015.
Mrs. Dixon was a homemaker and also assisted her husband with the operation of the family farm.
She attended Mt. Sterling schools and graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1954. She then attended Gem City Business College in Quincy.
Carlene was a devoted member of the Mt. Sterling Presbyterian Church of Christ where she served in numerous capacities including as elder, deacon and was a member and past president of the women’s night circle.
She had also served as Elkhorn Township Assessor, a girl scout leader, the secretary/treasurer of the Illinois Tractor Pullers Association and was a member Illinois AI Chapter of T.T.T. where she had held many offices including president of the local chapter and was past vice-president and president at the state level. Carlene enjoyed playing bridge with her numerous bridge clubs, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include 3 children Linda A. Dixon and Rhonda J. Jachino both of Springfield, Illinois and Michael Dixon (Angela) of Southlake, Texas. 4 grandchildren Jared M. Jachino, Andrea J. Jachino, Regan A. Dixon and Rylan M. Dixon also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Edward Husted and 1 sister Adelaide Husted.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Richard Young officiating.
Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of services on Sunday.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Sterling Presbyterian Church of Christ.
