Words fail me. He was & will always be "Uncle Mike" to me. I was named after the nickname Dad (his oldest brother Lozelle) had for him since they were kids. I have thought, still think of Uncle Mike every day. He was one of the truly kindest, most selfless, gentlest men I ever knew, a lot like my Dad and like GrandDad. He always made me feel special. He was a huge part of my life for the first 18 years. I'm very proud to share his blood, and of the many many great memories he left all of us. Now, all of the brothers are home & I take comfort in that.
Distance, my health & circumstances are all excuses for why I didn't go visit, but they are poor and unacceptable ones. If there is someone you love, think of often and "mean to go visit real soon", do it TODAY... At least pick up a phone & call just to say Hi, I'm thinking about you.
