Dear Gusts - I am writing Christmas cards, and I see that your mom/grandmother has passed away. I am one of the archaeologists from back in the day - I now teach at SIUE. I think I last visited Ellen about 10 years ago. She was such a wonderful lady! I am sad to see this obituary.

This makes me so sad. Ellen was a class act. I have very fond memories of her at Versailles Grade School as our elementary principal. She truly invested of herself in her students. I only hope that people like her realize how special they are. However, I think she was far too humble for that. Sending lots of love and hugs to her family.

Ellen was a wonderful educator and I appreciated having her there at Versailles School when my kids were there and when I had to deal with discipline problems on the bus. I was sure glad I got to visit with her at the Christmas dinner at Heritage Manor this past Dec. My sincere sympathy to the family. She will be missed!

The community was truly blessed by her commitment and dedication to education. She touched so many lives and was such a blessing to all who had the privilege of entering her circle of influence.
